What you need to know:

If you were to ask any of the 15,086 escapes Control Alt Delete has facilitated if they received money from Control Alt Delete, they would all likely answer no.

This is because Control Alt Delete will never give Survivors money for the services they need to escape. Instead, we pay for that service directly.

There are many reasons for this service model. A great example of why we do not ever give money is from several weeks ago. A local nonprofit called Control Alt Delete needing help for a Survivor. That agency had sent the Survivor money via Venmo but sent it with the standard transfer not the instant meaning it would take up to 2-3 days for the Survivor to receive those funds.
The largest concern is that almost always the abuser has access to and controls the bank accounts; in over 98% of the domestic violence cases Control Alt Delete helps with. Chances are that abuser will get all funds transferred electronically. That also opens up a clear path for the abuser to know exactly where the Survivor is by watching how and where those funds are spent.

Ask any of the 15,086 escapes if they received financial support and they will likely say no. Ask if they were provided a hotel room, fuel, bus tickets, groceries, new locks, security cameras for a prepaid cell phone – that answer will be yes.

Control Alt Delete helps people escape domestic violence by removing the barriers that keep them in unsafe and violent situations. We provide one time assistance at the request of victim advocates, prosecutor offices, crisis response teams including police and fire departments.

Our 100% volunteer run nonprofit means $1 of every dollar donated goes directly to helping Survivors escape.
