Mega Escape Day & the Impact of the Gabby Petito Docu-Series

While trying to figure out why this past Monday was a Mega Escape Day (a day when an unusually high number of Survivors sought help leaving abusive situations), we realized—it wasn’t tied to a holiday, a major sporting event, or a celebration day. Instead, the timing lines up with the release of the Netflix docu-series about Gabby Petito.



After watching, we’re left with more questions than answers—but one truth is painfully clear: Every single case of domestic abuse has the potential to become fatal. Every. Single. One.

If this series helps even one Survivor recognize the danger they’re in and take steps to escape, then its impact is undeniable. We sincerely hope that those who needed to see it, saw it. And that those who needed to leave, found a way out.
