Why Control Alt Delete Will Never Pay an Abuser’s Debt
At Control Alt Delete, our mission is clear: we exist to help Survivors of domestic violence safely escape abusive situations and begin their journey toward freedom and healing. Every resource we provide, every dollar we raise, and every escape we facilitate is centered on the Survivor and their children or pets—not the abuser.
One question that occasionally arises is whether Control Alt Delete pays debts belonging to an abuser in order to help a Survivor leave. The answer is simple: we will never use donations, grants, or community support to pay an abuser’s debt.
Why We Stand Firm on This Policy
Abusers often use financial control as a form of power and manipulation. They may deliberately place bills, debts, or financial obligations in the Survivor’s name—or claim they need their debts paid to allow the Survivor to leave. Supporting or paying those debts would not only continue the abuser’s control, it would also redirect life-saving funds away from the Survivor who needs them most.
Control Alt Delete was founded with one purpose: to provide one-time assistance that directly empowers Survivors to escape. That can include:
-
Safe transportation to freedom
-
Emergency shelter costs
-
Essential supplies such as food, clothing, or first aid kits
-
Support for children and pets fleeing with the Survivor
These services are designed to break the cycle of abuse, not reinforce it.
Survivor-Centered, Always
We want Survivors to know: you are our priority. Every donation we receive goes directly toward helping you and your family safely escape and start fresh. Our community of supporters gives because they believe in your right to live free from violence—not in propping up the financial demands of an abuser.
When and advocate reaches out to Control Alt Delete, be assured that the help you receive will never benefit your abuser. Our funding is for Survivors only, and always will be.
How You Can Help
When you donate to Control Alt Delete, you are making an immediate impact. In 2025, the average escape cost is just $16.35, often supporting a mother, three children, and a pet. Your contribution directly funds escapes—not debts, not abusers, only Survivors.
Together, we can continue to draw a bold line:
✅ We pay for freedom.
❌ We will never pay an abuser’s debt.
If you want to be part of this mission, consider becoming a monthly donor, sharing our message, or volunteering your support.
Survivors deserve safety, dignity, and a future. Abusers deserve none of our resources.
