It’s a Relationship – Not a Partnership

Why Every Domestic Violence Agency in the Phoenix Metro Turns to Control Alt Delete for Help—But Not the Other Way Around

In the Phoenix Metro area, countless agencies work to support Survivors of domestic violence. While each of these organizations provides valuable services, there’s one truth that stands out: when it comes to helping Survivors escape, every one of these agencies turns to Control Alt Delete for help. They may advertise that they help Survivors leave dangerous situations, but the reality is, they come to us to make those life-saving escapes happen.

Yet, this relationship is not reciprocal.

Control Alt Delete: The Go-To for Escapes, but No Help in Return

When other agencies are faced with a Survivor who urgently needs to escape, they call Control Alt Delete. We’ve earned their trust through our proven ability to facilitate immediate escapes, often within minutes of a request. While they may handle follow-up care, counseling, and shelter, we’re the ones doing the hardest, most immediate work: getting Survivors out of danger and to safety. This is what we specialize in, and we do it without hesitation.

But when the roles are reversed, the story changes. Despite the fact that these agencies rely on Control Alt Delete when their own resources fall short, none of them steps up to help when we refer Survivors who need support beyond our scope.

The One-Way Street: When We Reach Out, the Silence is Deafening

Control Alt Delete focuses on what we do best—providing urgent, one-time assistance to help Survivors escape from life-threatening domestic violence situations. However, there are times when Survivors need services that fall outside our capacity. This could be longer-term housing, specialized legal aid, or mental health support—services that other agencies are specifically designed to provide.

When we refer Survivors to these organizations for that help, we’re often met with silence. Despite the fact that we regularly assist their clients in escaping violence, these agencies don’t reciprocate when we send Survivors their way. It’s disheartening, but it’s a reality we’ve faced time and time again.

The Impact on Survivors

This lack of reciprocity doesn’t just affect our organization—it affects the very people we’re all here to serve: the Survivors. When other agencies turn to Control Alt Delete for help with an urgent escape, we act immediately. There’s no waiting, no red tape, no barriers. But when we have a Survivor who needs assistance beyond what we provide, and we refer them to another agency, the support they desperately need often isn’t there.

This lack of response means that some Survivors are left to fall through the cracks. It’s a sobering reality that reveals just how broken the system can be, and why Control Alt Delete exists: to make sure that even when others can’t, or won’t, we will.

Our Commitment to Survivors Remains Unwavering

Despite this one-sided relationship, Control Alt Delete remains steadfast in our commitment to helping Survivors. We know that when a life is on the line, we can’t wait for someone else to step in. Our focus will always be on providing the immediate, crisis-response assistance that so many other organizations rely on us for, even if they don’t return the favor.

This doesn’t diminish the value of the services these agencies provide in the long term. Counseling, shelter, and aftercare are crucial for a Survivor’s journey to healing. But it does underscore an important truth: when it comes to the most critical moment—the escape—Control Alt Delete is the one getting it done, and we are doing it alone.

Moving Forward: Breaking the Silence, Bridging the Gap

While it can be frustrating to face a lack of support from other agencies, we won’t let it slow us down. We will continue to do what we do best, and we will keep helping Survivors escape—whether we get help in return or not. Our mission is too important to be bogged down by what others won’t do. And for the Survivors, there is no room for hesitation.

At Control Alt Delete, we understand that we might not ever see a true, reciprocal partnership from the other domestic violence agencies. But we also know that the work we do is life-saving, and that’s all the motivation we need.

Because in the end, it’s not about us—it’s about the Survivors. And we’ll always be there for them, even when no one else is.

Control Alt Delete removes the barriers that keep people in unsafe and abusive situations by providing one time assistance at the most vulnerable and crucial times as Survivors are actually escaping. We can’t do it without you, our supporters.
